SQUISHY STORY—THE SQUISHIES GO TO HOLLYWOOD! FOR ALYSSA SAYS MONTHLY CONTEST.

Honorable Mention - to Julianna for her Hollywood Squishies Story! Julianna - You are an AWESOME writer!!!! GO JULIANNA SQUISHY STORY—THE SQUISHIES GO TO HOLLYWOOD! FOR ALYSSA SAYS MONTHLY CONTEST. “Hey, take a look at this!” exclaimed Bearetta, a nice bear squishy. Bearetta tapped her neatly-trimmed paw onto a glossy magazine page. “It says here that one lucky winner of the Hollywood Puzzle Contest will win a chance to bring one friend to Hollywood for a week. We get to see Squishena Gomez, too! It says FREE limousine transportation will be provided. All you have to do is figure out the answer to a Hollywood-based math word problem. It’ll be easy, and the person with the correct answer whose name is drawn will go to Hollywood. Since it’s summer, we won’t miss any school. What do you say?” Every squishy agreed, and Bearetta and her friends, Cawcaw the parrot, and Ooh, the monkey, found out the answer to the problem. They popped their work into an envelope and sent it to 13 Squishy Drive, Squishena, SQ, 12345. “Now all we have to do is wait,” said Cawcaw. Two weeks later, the squishies were having a slumber party when Mrs. Bear, Bearetta’s mother, came in with the mail. “Bearetta, dear, there’s something for you!” she called. “It seems to be from…this can’t be!...13 Squishy Drive, Squishena, SQ, 12345. Isn’t that Hollywood’s address?” Bearetta screamed and scrambled down the stairs, closely followed by Cawcaw and Ooh. “It’s true!” crowed Ooh. “But since the trip starts on Saturday, I can’t go. I have a soccer game that day,” she added with a hint of sadness. “Oh, well,” she said with a note of brightness. “At least I’ll be able to tell my other friends that I almost got to go to Hollywood!” Saturday came all too quickly, and the squishies were packing their things for the week when a knock came on the door. Cawcaw was in Bearetta’s room, and the two girls were discussing the things they’d only dreamed about while they packed. “Girls, the limo’s here!” she cried. “Shut your suitcases and have fun!” The squishies rushed out the door and Bearetta gave her mother a peck on the cheek. Cawcaw thanked Mrs. Bear and hurried out the door. “Oh, my gosh!” squealed Bearetta as a man pulled open the limo’s door for them. “We’re going to HOLLYWOOD!” Three hours later, the squishies were getting bored of watching Quiz Mania on the limo’s TV, so they got up to stretch their legs and to get a snack from the bar. The grand stretch limo was not at all boring! Soon, the limo slowed and they climbed out of the car. They entered a theater and gasped. It was luxury here! Stars were roaming on the red carpet, and paparazzi snapped endless pictures. Bulbs flashed and girls were swooning when Justin Sqieber came out. Squishy Crawford strutted down the catwalk, and the squishies were starstruck. Finally, Squishena Gomez came out and sang. Squishena spotted her “special guests” and invited them on stage! That ended the night, and their chauffer drove to Hollywood Point, where they would be spending the night. The squishies each had a huge king-size bed all to themselves and a flat-screen TV. The chauffer would be sleeping in a separate room, but the squishies were mature and could handle dangerous situations. Besides, Chauffer Dave was only next door. After a good night’s sleep, everyone woke up and went sightseeing. Twice they saw Paul McSquishy, who gladly signed autographs, and saw Zac Squishfron. Lady Squaga was singing her best songs, and even agreed to get a picture with the girls. For lunchtime, the squishies ate at Café Sqwish, a top-rated gourmet food place. Their chauffer had again accompanied them. Then—bling-a-ding! Bling-a-ding! Bearetta’s cell phone lit up, and Mrs. Bear had called to ask how it was coming. She spoke with Cawcaw and the chauffer, and hung up. Cawcaw and Bearetta had taken at least one hundred pictures to show Ooh and Mrs. Bear. But after lunch, more photo ops became available when the squishies went to see the Hollywood Premiere of Finding Nemo, which was a bit old but still good. Bearetta texted Ooh constantly, updating her on what she was doing. Once or twice, Cawcaw texted Mrs. Parrot, her mother, but Mrs. Parrot rarely used her cell phone and refrained from texting. Another night gone by, the squishies went to eat dinner in their hotel’s restaurant. They stopped in the movie theater and caught a glimpse of a new movie, but the chauffer took them up to bed and they were far too worn out to discuss the day. When they woke up, the squishies made to-do lists of the things they planned to do for the rest of the week. One of the check-offs included playing Celebrity Hunt, where the girls poked their noses (or beaks) into every place possible, trying to find stars. “It’s a great way to explore the land,” agreed Chauffer Dave. By the time it was lunchtime, the squishies had seen Squishenem, Squish Dogg, Squishy Perry, Sqwana Montana, and dozens of other squishy celebrities. For lunch, they feasted on barbecued ribs at Old Timer, a popular restaurant with tons of delicious foodstuffs. With bellies full and smiles large, the squishies proceeded to play more Celebrity Hunt. But an hour later, the girls were pestering Chauffer Dave to have a ride. They were bored of seeing stars. So with nothing else to do, the chauffer gave in and drove them around and around. The squishies used this time to make more lists, and they called Mrs. Bear and texted Ooh. Ooh’s soccer game results had turned out to be 6-0, and Ooh was feeling bad about that because her twin brother, Aah, was on the winning team. Aah was her twin, but he lived with Mr. Monkey, since Mrs. and Mr. Monkey had recently gotten a divorce. Trying to cheer her up, Cawcaw and Bearetta promised to take lots of good pictures. This seemed to brighten Ooh up, because she commented that the match was “just a game,” anyway. Once the squishies hung up, they all went to Crème-a-lina, a famous doughnut store. After treating themselves to chocolate-and-sprinkles doughnuts, they drove back to Hollywood Point and watched yet another movie. At 6:00, the squishies reported to Mess Hall, Chauffer Dave’s favorite restaurant. It wasn’t all bad, either, thought Bearetta. She was embarrassed to have to get a Kid’s Meal, but Cawcaw seemed to enjoy the little games. Feeling full and very sleepy, they went to bed early and had a great rest of the week. On their last day at Hollywood, Cawcaw moaned, “It’s already over, and I won’t even remember this!” “You won’t?” asked a surprised Bearetta. “I would, but if you’re so sure, let’s use the cash my mom gave us and buy souvenirs at the gift shop.” The squishies walked into the shop and browsed its large collection of stuffed animals, diaries, books, posters, calendars, clothing, and more. Bearetta decided on an autographed poster of Squishena Gomez, and Cawcaw bought Your Visit to Hollywood, which was a book filled with facts and pictures about Hollywood. They left, climbed into the limousine, called Mrs. Bear, and had a great time. When they arrived home, Ooh saw them and gave Bearetta and Cawcaw huge hugs. They shared pictures and chattered on and on about Hollywood. The squishies went to bed, dreaming about fun times and more Hollywood. Squishies rule. THE END.
